Pull Up a Chair

I’m Esha, and this website is my kitchen notebook turned inside out. Everything here comes from the stove in my own home: the weeknight dinners, the slow Sunday pots, the snacks I make when guests turn up unannounced. If a dish has earned a spot on my table more than once, it has probably found its way onto these pages.

How I Learned to Cook

Nobody handed me a textbook. I picked things up by standing beside the people who fed me growing up, tasting from spoons, and getting plenty wrong. Burnt onions, flat bread, curries that were far too salty. Each failure taught me something, and I started writing the lessons down so I wouldn’t repeat them. Friends kept asking for those scribbled pages, and eventually it made sense to share them properly.

What I Cook

My style is home cooking, nothing fancy. Expect recipes that lean on ingredients you can find at an ordinary market and equipment you already own. You’ll come across:

  • Everyday meals for busy evenings.
  • Festive dishes and slow-cooked favourites.
  • Quick bites, sides, and tea-time treats.
  • Sweet things, from simple puddings to proper desserts.
  • Kitchen tips that make the whole process calmer.

My Approach to Recipes

Before anything gets posted, I cook it, usually more than once. I note what went right, change what didn’t, and explain the steps the way I’d talk a friend through them over the phone. Measurements are given as clearly as I can manage, but I’ll also tell you what to look, smell, and taste for, because ovens and ingredients vary from one kitchen to the next.

A Few Honest Notes

I’m a home cook, not a dietitian or a trained chef. Nutrition details, where I mention them, are rough estimates. If you have allergies or follow a medical diet, please check every ingredient label yourself and speak to a qualified professional before trying a recipe. Cooking times can also differ, so trust your own senses as well as my timings.

Cook Along With Me

This site works best as a conversation. If you try something and it turns out beautifully, I’d love to know. If it doesn’t, tell me that too, since your feedback helps me improve a recipe for the next person.

Come hungry, stay as long as you like, and happy cooking.
